The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, “Coachella,” and its country western counterpart, Stagecoach Country Music Festival, have come to dominate the music scene locally, nationally and internationally since Coachella’s inception nearly 20 years ago.  Recently named Billboard’s Top Festival of the Year, with box office revenue exceeding the $100 million mark, Coachella has earned its status as one of the top outdoor music festivals in the world. A winning blend of top entertainment, plus art and cuisine have made the festival more than just music. Music and art fans come from all over the world each April to Greater Palm Springs’s perfect spring weather setting to enjoy the celebrations for the last three weekends of April. However, this year they need to arrive a week earlier for another weekend music and art extravaganza--The Indian Wells Music Festival, April 6 & 7.

The Indian Wells Music Festival

Kicking off “Music Month” is the former Desert Lexus Jazz Festival–now the two-day Indian Wells Music Festival held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, the home of the BNP Paribas Open each March. And, similar to Coachella’s winning formula, it’s not just about music. Music fans will discover a Lifestyle Village featuring  the large-scale, award-winning sculptures by the Barones, fine art, food and drink vendors and  more. Take a sneak peek at the art here.

The festival line-up is highlighted by GRAMMY award-winner Jonny Lang, and Jon Batiste with The Dap-Kings headlining the event. Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers will open the event on Friday, followed by The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Jonny Lang. On Saturday, California native Sandra Lynn will open the performances, followed by multi-GRAMMY award-winning Robert Cray Band and Jon Batiste with The Dap-Kings.

In addition to an impressive lineup of artists, the event will also feature an assortment of vendors offering food, wine, art, boutique shopping and more. Reserved table seating is available for each night, as well as two-day packages to ensure the same seats for both days of the event.

  1. This blog is definitely rather handy since I’m at the moment creating an internet floral website – although I am only starting out therefore it’s really fairly small, nothing like this site. Can link to a few of the posts here as they are quite. Thanks much. Zoey Olsen
