Music will fill the air the entire month of April in Greater Palm Springs, beginning with the Wedbush Garden Jam Music Festival which precedes Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach. The Wedbush Garden Jam Music Festival, presented by Fisherman’s Market & Grill, features headliner Lukas Nelson, who along with his band Promise of the Real, were the instrumentals in the GRAMMY, Golden Globe and Oscar-winning song “Shallow” and others on the movie soundtrack. Nelson also co-wrote many of the songs with Gaga and Cooper. The popular music event takes place at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, the second largest tennis stadium in the world, on April 5 & 6.

This year the festival falls on the first weekend of April, rounding out ‘Music Month’ along with the wildly popular Coachella Festival and Stagecoach. Music lovers now have a variety of concerts to embrace every weekend in April, ranging from rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz, blues, country and more.

“We were excited that Bradley Cooper was presented with Best Director Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival in January for his directorial debut of A Star is Born. With Bradley and Lukas Nelson working closely along with Lady Gaga on the soundtrack for the movie, we are excited to welcome Lukas and his band to the stage at Garden Jam,” said Jim Fitzgerald of Wendy Jayne Productions. “April is Music Month here, with critically acclaimed music festivals in the world gracing the Coachella Valley.”

Formerly the Indian Wells Music Festival, the newly named Wedbush Garden Jam Music Festival, with title sponsor Wedbush Securities, pays homage to its beautiful surroundings. With majestic date palms, colorful flowers and tree- lined grassy areas, this is not your typical field festival. The festival activity is set under the shaded performance pavilion and also features a lifestyle village with an assortment of vendors offering food, wine, art, boutique shopping and more.

All seating for the festival is reserved table seating with great views of the performance stage, with a limited number of grounds only tickets available. For more information, a schedule of performers and pricing, visit https://www.gardenjammusicfestival.com/.

Two days of entertainment

The 13-year-old has been dubbed a “future superstar of the blues’” by blues guitar master Joe Bonamassa.  Additional artists will be announced for the second stage.

The Headliners

Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real

The buzz surrounding Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real has been palpable.  The 29-year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist and his bandmates have played hundreds of shows and major festivals all over the world.  In 2012, Nelson contributed three songs and vocals to his dad Willie Nelson’s album, ‘Heroes,’ their voices blending with potent DNA. Two years later, Neil Young decided to make Promise of the Real his touring and studio band. During an appearance with Young at Desert Trip in the Coachella Valley, Lukas caught the eye of Bradley Cooper resulting in his work with the critically acclaimed film, A Star is Born.  In addition to being the musical director of the film, Lukas co-wrote and produced seven of the songs for the soundtrack with Cooper and Lady Gaga, and he and his band Promise of the Real became the on-screen backing band for the film’s main character played by Cooper. Nelson’s songs transcend the cultural boundaries between rock & roll and country. The band’s new, self-titled album highlights his soulful vocals and tasteful guitar virtuosity.

Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy, a blues pioneer who made his mark with Muddy Waters early in his career, is a seven-time GRAMMY award winner. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Eric Clapton and B.B. King in 2005, and among his many accolades is the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. His newest release ‘The Blues Is Alive and Well,’ features Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, and British guitarist Jeff Beck. Guy has a distinctive guitar sound and he is noted for influencing music greats including Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, John Mayer and others.
